Roof sheeting removed after storm damage on a Melbourne home
The Problem

The Second Night Of Rain Does More Damage Than The Storm

Melbourne storms damage roofs in two main ways. Wind gets under an edge, a ridge capping or a poorly fixed sheet and peels it back. Or a branch comes down and punches straight through.

Either way the roof is now open. What follows is usually worse than the initial hit, because rain goes straight into the insulation, the ceilings and the wall cavities over the following days.

Everybody rings a roofer at the same time after a big storm, so the gap between the damage and the repair is exactly when the expensive part happens.

  • Sheets or ridge cappings lifted, curled or missing
  • Holes punched through by a fallen branch
  • Debris blocking valleys and gutters and backing water up
  • Ceilings sagging or bulging with trapped water
  • Loose sheeting that could come off in the next blow

How We Do It

Make It Safe Now, Repair It Properly After

The first job is stopping more water getting in. We make the roof safe, secure or remove anything loose, and get it watertight so the inside of your home stops taking damage while the rest is sorted out.

Then we assess the full extent, including the parts that are easy to miss. Wind that lifted one sheet has usually loosened the fixings on the ones either side of it, and a branch strike often cracks battens under the visible hole.

We photograph and document everything, which matters if you are claiming. Your insurer needs evidence of what the storm did rather than a bill for a repair.

  • Roof made safe and watertight as the first priority
  • Full assessment including surrounding sheets and battens
  • Damage photographed and documented for your insurer
  • Permanent repair quoted in writing before it starts
  • Gutters and valleys cleared of storm debris

  • Michael B Home Owner

We recently bought our house, which was only five years old, and unfortunately discovered extensive roof issues that had not been built to Australian standards. After speaking with several roofers, Michael came across as the most professional and helpful. He was prompt, meticulous, and I couldn't recommend him more highly.

  • Aleksandar Andonov Home Owner

The team was professional and detail-oriented from start to finish. They replaced my old tile roof with a new tin roof, restored damaged areas, and installed new fascia and gutters. Their work quality is outstanding, and they completed everything on time and within budget.

Asked Questions

Storm Damage Questions

  • It depends entirely on what the storm did. Refixing a lifted sheet is a small job. Replacing a section punched through by a branch, along with damaged battens underneath, costs more. Where you are claiming, we quote the repair in the detail your insurer expects.

  • We prioritise roofs that are actively letting water in. Be aware that after a big storm every roofer in Melbourne is fielding the same calls, so ring early rather than waiting to see how bad it gets.

  • Storm damage is generally the kind of sudden event insurers do cover, unlike gradual wear. Whether a specific claim is accepted comes down to your policy and the assessment. We give you photos and a documented scope of what we found so the claim is assessed on evidence.

  • We provide the inspection report, photographs and a detailed quote, and we are happy to speak with your assessor about what we found on the roof. The claim itself stays between you and your insurer.

  • Stay off the roof, it will be wet and possibly unstable. Move what you can out from under any active drip, and if a ceiling is bulging keep clear of it because it is holding water. Photograph the damage from ground level if it is safe to do so.

  • We cover Melbourne's South East, from Cranbourne and Pakenham through to Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula. Check our areas we serve page, or call 0478 831 069 and we will let you know either way.
